Everything you need to know to get you moving!

when should I first contact a removal company?

First of all it is never too early. In an ideal world we would also recommend:
International – 2/3 months in advance, allowing sufficient time to finalise your shipping arrangements.
Local or UK – 4/6 weeks – this will also allow sufficient time to obtain competitive quotes and storage facilities if required.

How long will it take to complete a removal survey?

It would normally take no more than an hour to access your requirements and also answer any questions you may have regarding all our services.

How do I arrange a written quotation?

Simply give us a call on 01434 609631 or complete a Request a Quote form while online at www.gbsremovals.co.uk.  Our home survey is FREE of charge and also without obligation, one of our experienced surveyors will visit you at a pre-arranged time to discuss your requirements.

What does your removal quotation include?

Each quotation is based upon your needs meaning there are no hidden extras.
For local moves we can also provide up to thirty boxes so you can do your own packing for only £60! Once your quote has been accepted you can then pay the £60 refundable deposit and once the boxes are returned to us on completion of your move we will refund the amount back to you.

What about clothes?

On the day of your move your hanging clothes will be placed in our wardrobe hanging cartons therefore we keep them clean and crease free.

What is included in the packing service?

We usually pack either one day prior to your move day or for a Monday move we may pack on the Friday prior.  All packing materials used are also provided FREE of charge, we would request that boxes are returned after your move for re-cycling.

Can you dismantle and reassemble furniture?

Yes, we will do any “handyman” type dismantling/reassembling, however we do make a charge for this service.

Can you move one item to another room?

Yes, that’s no problem. We do charge a minimum one hour fee for all moves.

Do you offer a part load service?

That’s another Yes – part loads can be delivered when we are in the area, therefore this is reflected in the price.

Do you offer removals at weekends?

The time of day, or the day itself is not a problem although this is also reflected in the price. Can you move large items such as piano and pool tables? Again yes we do and rather more often than most clients would expect.

Are there items you will not transport?

Yes – due to obvious reasons, potentially dangerous, damaging or explosive items including gas bottles, aerosols, paints, firearms and ammunition.

What happens about boxes?

Once your “Acceptance” is signed your boxes can be delivered or collected from our premises at Burn Lane, Hexham prior to your move if you are self packing.
After your move, give us a call when you are ready and we will collect them or you can drop them off yourself at Burn Lane, Hexham.
Please note we do not collect wet boxes. As part of our commitment to the environment we therefore recycle wherever possible.

Do you sell packing materials?

Yes we sell boxes, tape, packing paper and bubble wrap.

What types of payment do your accept?

Cash, cheques, debit cards and also credit cards.
